"Understanding Love" is an art project by G C Kush in collaboration with Lyn Brüsneider and Mana Yamashita.
It is a combination of photographs and illustrations to depict the feelings around a situation where somebody you fall in love with turns into sombody hurtful that you can't figure out.
This part 1 of the series explores the topic with beauty and color while the part 2 looks at it with a dark and sombre tone.
We live in an age where a multitude of digital communication methods make up how we connect with people. In this frenzy of activity, it has become a socially acceptable norm to ignore people in the hope that we'd fade away from their attention span. Yet in some cases, for the person at the receiving end of this silant treatment, the lack of a response is more painful than a negative one.
"Out of Touch"
This illustrates the hidden trauma of sudden disconnection in the form of dismembered hands that still hold on to a glowingly beautiful girl. The absurdity and nonsensical context is illustrated by the man with a building head and the boy with a cloth hanger torso etc.
In a world where opportunities are virtually endless and positivity is the most sought after commodity, we tend to cover our souls with fantasies and mythical self-importance that hinders our ability to clearly get to know someone.
